Girl Band share new track ‘Going Norway’

The band have also shared a video for the newest cut to be taken from their forthcoming new album.

Having announced details of their new album back in June, Dublin quartet Girl Band have shared another track from it.

Following on from the industrial thrum of their new record’s lead single ‘Shoulderblades’, the band have now offered up a second cut, ‘Going Norway’.

Speaking of the track, the band’s Dara Kiely has said: “‘Going Norway’ was actually one of the first tracks we finished but the melody actually comes from a track that I wrote about 8 years ago. I saved that melody and brought it up when I didn’t have any ideas left, I was also doing a lot of mindfulness mediation around the time of it, so lyrically I decided not to use any pronouns within Going Norway and the whole album - that came about when I came across this quote from the Buddha which was ’Nothing is to be clung to as I, me or mine’ - and I removed all that in a way to kind of find an abstract world to live in.”

‘Going Norway’ also comes accompanied by a new video, as directed by Bob Gallagher, and is set to be released as a special 7” tomorrow (Friday 16th August).

The track gets taken from the band’s forthcoming second album ‘The Talkies’, which is due to be released via Rough Trade on 27th September and follows the band’s wildly acclaimed 2015 debut ‘Holding Hands With Jamie’.
