Hear HONNE’s steamed-up remix of Rae Morris’ ‘Under the Shadows’
Track backs the musician’s new single, ahead of a 2015 LP.
Forming part of DIY’s Class of 2015, Rae Morris’ ‘Unguarded’ debut makes for one of the year’s most sure-to-be-brilliant first works. So far, the Blackpool-via-London newcomer’s showcased gloomy, ghostly and complex pop tracks, each one more evocative than the last. But nothing - not even the original form of ‘Under the Shadows’ - sounds quite like this.
Production/pop duo HONNE have steamed things up with their edit of Rae’s new single. Swapping a swarm of synths for something more ‘late night’, they’ve inserted funk guitars, a verified ‘70s flexing sway and a studmuffin flavour that doesn’t get dished out for fun. This is seriously hot under the collar, a similarly-minded edit to BADBABNOTGOOD’s recent take on Future Islands’ breakthrough single.
DIY’s got the first play of HONNE x Rae Morris, below.
