Iceage preview new album with ‘How Many’
Danish punks take a continued turn, with ‘Plowing Into the Field of Love’ out this October.
Whether by intention or some wild wind change, foremost Danish punks Iceage are spitting and growling in a very different way. Everything previewed from their ‘Plowing Into the Field of Love’ LP - out 6th October on Matador - showcases a more melodic, classically inspired slice of energy, one compared to The Libertines, and for good reason.
On ‘How Many’ - the third track to emerge from the album - Elias Bender Rønnenfelt slurs and purrs his way through the track, which musically does its best to reach complete bedlam before the end of its three and a half minute running time.
Rønnenfelt doesn’t sink into convention, mind you - he continues to scoff, guff his way through proceedings, like every movement is pained. “I have a sense of utopia / of what I truly ought to do,” he shouts, like he’s been given a glimpse of a perfect future and he hates the very sight of it.
Iceage’s ‘How Many’ is streaming below. Catch-up with Iceage’s ‘The Lord’s Favorite’ and ‘Forever’, also from the forthcoming album.
