Listen: Allie X Streams Debut Track ‘Catch’
Toronto pop newcomer is responsible for one of 2014’s most talked about debut tracks so far.

Already the excitement around Toronto via LA newcomer Allie X is hitting fever pitch. Idolater have called ‘Catch’ the best song of 2014 so far, and Neon Gold have hailed it as an essential debut track. Chvrches comparisons are flying about all over the shop because, yes, Allie’x vocals sound a fair bit like Lauren Mayberry’s; semi-anxious but big, bold and capable of a big range.
‘Catch’ - coupled with its surreal skip around the pole video - is almost definitely the real deal. Glittering on the outside but ridden with darkness underneath the surface, it’s a clever balancing of emotions, instant to the core.
