Marcus Mumford describes his band’s name as “a ball-ache”

Mumford & Sons leader has said they considered changing their stage name.

During an interview with NME, Marcus Mumford has stated that he regrets naming the group Mumford & Sons, describing the name as “a ball-ache”.

Marcus Mumford and Ben Lovett were speaking ahead of the release of their third album, ‘Wilder Mind,’ out on 4th May, with the former stating the group “thought about changing it but it’s a bit late now.” “I definitely regret the band name,” Mumford added. “If I’d known it was going to go this way I would have wanted to call it anything other than my last name…It’s a ball-ache.”

Ben Lovett said that he and his bandmates were unhappy with their past dress-sense, too. “We’ve noticed that in some of our old photos we look like absolute idiots,” observed Lovett, with Marcus Mumford adding that their change was not a calculated one: “We didn’t hire a stylist and say, ‘let’s rebrand ourselves.’”
