Electric feel:
MGMT’s new album is due this year
Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser confirmed that the follow-up to their self-titled record is out in 2017.
Last month MGMT hinted that their new album - on the cards since Christmas Day 2015 - was finally finished. Now, the oddball duo have gone one step more official, confirming that the follow-up to their 2013 self-titled effort will be out this year.
“Incredibly soon we will get back up on the horse of live music in Memphis,” the band wrote in an email newsletter to fans. “And from atop this great horse we will play old songs and new songs. New songs from our new album that you will newly hear this year!”
It’d be a mean feat to perform while actually on horseback, but you get the gist.
Who knows what to expect - this is MGMT after all - but the band’s Andrew VanWyngarden has been pictured in the studio with Mac DeMarco previously, and they’ve also called the new album something to “re-dominate your mind hole”. There you go, then. Check out all their upcoming live dates here.
