Mumford & Sons announce summer warm up show

With a new album just around the corner and a heap of live dates booked, including a headline slot at Reading & Leeds Festival, Mumford & Sons have announced details of a warm-up show at Brighton’s Dome Corn Exchange this Monday (27th April), with songs from all three of their albums getting aired.

Tickets for the event are reserved for members of their mailing list and those hoping to relive the event via shaky mobile phone footage are out of luck as, because the event is taking place before the release of ‘Wilder Mind’, all mobile phones and recording devices are prohibited.

Those desperate for a slither of live Mumford & Sons don’t have long to wait with the band taking to Jools Holland on Friday night, performing ‘Snake Eyes’, ‘The Wolf’ and ‘Believe’.

Friday is a busy day for Marcus & Co as they also appear on the cover of the new issue of DIY talking about their banjo-less third album and self-started rumors of their demise.

“People who haven’t seen us live or haven’t heard the full albums - which is the majority of people who have a view on Mumford & Sons - will associate the banjo with every song,” frontman Marcus Mumford explains, of their new, more guitar-led direction. “We don’t feel like it’s any kind of betrayal to the acoustic instruments we were playing. It’s more a continuation of the other stuff that we were doing.”

Mumford & Sons will play Open’er (1st - 4th July) and Bilbao BBK Live (9th - 11th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
