My Bloody Valentine hint towards a new album
You wait twenty-odd years for the follow-up to ‘Loveless’, and then…

You know what they say about My Bloody Valentine albums (well, buses, but the same principle applies here). You wait twenty-odd years for the follow-up to ‘Loveless’, and then two come along in close succession.
The notoriously unrushable band released ‘m b v’ in 2013, and according to drummer and founding member Colm Ó Cíosóig, another new album is in progress. Currently on tour with his other band, the Mazzy Star offshoot Hope Sandoval And The Warm Inventions, he was asked about the prospect of a new My Bloody Valentine album by Boston NPR station WBUR.
In their questioning, the station referred to recent rumours about “a My Bloody Valentine album next spring.” Colm replied: “I’ve been working on that preceding this tour, and I’m going to go back and work on that once the tour is done. It’s in the making.”
And while Colm didn’t give a deadline, nor properly confirm any word of a record in Spring 2018, it looks like there’s something new album-wise on the way. MBV’s recent vinyl re-issue of ‘Loveless’, and Kevin Shields’ Brian Eno collaboration just last week for Adult Swim certainly suggests they’re up to something.
