Surprise surprise, My Bloody Valentine’s drummer is complaining about quiet gigs
Colm Ó Cíosóig isn’t very happy about what he’s dubbed an “acceptance of muted culture”. Oh.

In a revelation that won’t really come as much as a surprise to anyone who has ever seen My Bloody Valentine live, the band’s Colm Ó Cíosóig says he hates quiet gigs.
The drummer wrote a letter to The Irish Times about the lack of volume at shows he’s seen as of late, and complained about “acceptance of muted culture,” too.
“I have been to two very expensive gigs there [Dublin’s 3arena ] recently and have experienced annoyingly cheap and thin-sounding representations of what should have been all-engulfing wonderful realities,” Colm said, as Noisey reports.
Bearing in mind My Bloody Valentine are commonly regarded as one of the loudest live bands in the world, this isn’t really a huge clanger. In the past, fans have reported everything from tinnitus to perforated eardrums following live shows, to vomiting and banging headaches.
Maybe best to turn things down a notch after all, eh?
