Pumarosa share ‘Cecile’ video
Vaping to virtual reality - it’s all kicking off.

Pumarosa are on a flawless streak so far with just two singles to the good, and now, their second, ‘Cecile’ has a video. Donning virtual reality headsets, puffing merrily away on vapes, and even turning themselves into strange, computerised likenesses, it’s a glitchy holographic bundle of weird.
Describing the bizarre visual in a press release, the band said “We are at a point in time where virtual reality technologies are going to become commonplace. The ‘Cecile’ video is a playful exploration of this, and how desire might lead us into other worlds.”
‘Cecile’s director Rebecca Salvadori added “we are alone and simultaneously together in dealing with a river of images that constantly submerge us. The ‘Cecile’ video is an experiment towards a constructed visual chaos.”
Isabel Munoz-Newsome and co. first put out ‘Cecile’ earlier this year, following on from their debut single ‘Priestess’. It came complete with a epically proportioned saxophone solo to boot. “A finely woven net of big ideas,” we wrote in our review, “it’s impossible not to get caught up.” The band play a London show at the ICA on May 7th.
We recently sat down with Pumarosa to make sense of their downright strange beginnings - from Italian cinema-dwelling hermits, to wandering soap inventors. Read that Neu interview right here, and watch the new ‘Cecile’ video below.
Pumarosa play The Great Escape (19th-21st May) and Latitude (14th-17th July) where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
