Surfbort have revealed a vivid, violent, surreal and generally just excellent new video for their latest single ‘Hi Anxiety’.

The animation was created by Glendon and Isabella, and features a cartoon cameo from The Butthole Surfers’ Gibby Hanes. It also stars the band themselves, a furious bear, zombie pigs, nuclear explosions and a very aggressive raccoon.

“The part where the road kill come back to life was directly influenced by one night when Sean hit a giant deer in Wyoming and we all almost died,” says guitarist Alex Kilgore.

“He was so distraught over it I was just screaming because I had headphones on and had been sleeping and thought we were all going to die. I thought it would be funny if all the road kill came back to life and pushed the annoying humans off the cliff and all the animals broke out of their zoo prisons.”

The punks’ debut album ‘Friendship Music’, acclaimed by the likes of Blondie’s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, is out on 7th June via Cult/Fat Possum records.

If that praise wasn’t high enough, we also marked them as one of our highlights from this year’s Great Escape in Brighton.
