Rae Morris talks “eye-opening” collaborations with Clean Bandit and Bombay Bicycle Club

In the new issue of DIY, Rae discusses her collaborations, and forthcoming debut.

Following her bill-topping slot on Reading & Leeds’ Introducing Stage, London songwriter Rae Morris will release a new EP, ‘Closer’, next month (22nd October); ahead of her debut album, initially slated for September of this year but now tentatively due out in January 2015.

Even if you haven’t heard Rae’s incredible punch as a solo artist yet, you may well have heard her beautifully wispy tones on recent collaborations with Bombay Bicycle Club (three tracks from ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’) and Clean Bandit (‘Up Again’).

“I guess the collaborations I’ve done have been really eye-opening for me,” she says in the new issue of DIY, “I’d never expected that I’d be an artist that collaborates when you don’t have a big, like, pop voice. That’s been a really amazing learning curve, and I think writing with bands like Clean Bandit is kind of really amazing.”

But would she be keen on doing more in the future? “I guess I’d be open to more of the same, yeah,” she replies. “I guess it’s just about making sure, whoever it is and whatever it is, that it’s still something that I enjoy doing. And that it’s something that I’d be proud of.”
