Reading 2011: Viva Brother: Muse Show Is “A Polished Turd”

The band tell us they’re not so keen on their day’s headliners.

Prior to their set at Reading Festival yesterday (Sunday 28th August), DIY caught up with Viva Brother, asking which acts they’d enjoyed seeing so far.

‘Cage The Elephant we watched earlier in the NME tent, they were wicked,’ Samuel Jackson revealed. ‘We’ve played a few festivals with them this summer but we always miss them. We never get to see bands but they were really, really great. I love that band.’

Unfortunately, there was also one particular act on the bill they weren’t so keen on…

Franklin Colucci: We clash directly with Muse, which is possibly the worst clash you could have of the whole weekend, but we ended up with a great crowd [at Leeds Festival] so hopefully today will be much of the same. If we have a crowd the same size as we did at Leeds then I’ll be chuffed.
Sam: We’re just hoping that there are some like-minded people that don’t like Muse out there that will come and watch us instead.
Frank: Not particularly a Muse fan. I like their show.
Sam: Their live show is incredible. But you know, it’s a polished turd one might say.

Viva Brother played Leeds Festival on Friday 26th August. Check back for the full interview later in the week.
