Japanese Jesus
Sky Ferreira airs Cole from DIIV-directed ‘Omanko’ video
Pair put together a film for everyone’s favourite alt-Xmas anthem.
Sky Ferreira’s industrial ear-bender ‘Omanko’ might not be the most obvious soundtrack for this time of year, but it’s a dead end blast of sound that has the singer declaring: “I’m giving up for a Japanese christmas,” so it has some relevance.
Arriving right on time is a new video, backing the song from last/this year’s ‘Night Time, My Time’. Bringing together home footage shot by DIIV’s Zachary Cole Smith, it’s a shaky visual’ed combination of backstage footage, shots from the crowd and lots of hanging out. Alt music’s favourite couple look to be going very strong.
Watch the new Sky Ferreira video for ‘Omanko’ below, arriving a week on from Cole’s difficult week, where he publicly dealt with the consequences of comments his part-time bassist made in chatrooms.
