SZA shares new track ‘Sobriety’

Top Dawg Entertainment’s first lady returns with a solemn new cut.

Singer-songwriter SZA has shared a new track ‘Sobriety’, her first new material to follow her ‘Z’ EP. Produced by Thundercat ,’Sobriety’ is akin to the mellow jazz flecks that Stephen Bruner left on Flying Lotus’ recent album ‘You’re Dead!’.

Documenting a break up, Solana Rowe sings candidly about the dizzying effects of a recent heartbreak. The chorus comes across as a therapeutic dialogue with herself. She sounds jilted by a former lover, which explains why she struggles to stay sober. Thundercat provides some tuneful and warm bass lines for Rowe to ride on, with grooved jazz patterns that sedate SZA to produce her most personal track yet.

SZA is expected to release ‘A’, her debut album via Top Dawg Entertainment in 2015. Stream ‘Sobriety’ below.
