The Knife To Release Single, ‘Full Of Fire’

The new single by the Swedish duo clocks in at 9 glorious minutes.

The Knife To Release Single, ‘Full Of Fire’

There’s a theory of popular music, that all the best songs clock in at around the two minute mark; that somehow that’s the recipe for the perfect pop song.

But for every rule, there’s a few exceptions, right? Sonic Youth’s ‘Washing Machine’. LCD’s ‘Yr City’s A Sucker’. Television’s ‘Marquee Moon’.

All clocking in at over the 9 minute mark. All bloody brilliant. And next week, we’ll apparently have another opus to add to the list of exceptions according to Gorilla Vs Bear, when The Knife release their own nine minute masterpiece, ‘Full Of Fire’.

The track is the duo’s first single proper since 2006’s ‘We Share Our Mothers’ Health’ (aside from the ‘Christmas Reindeer’, the reworking of ‘Reindeer’ from ‘The Knife’ album, and ‘Seeds’ from their Charles Darwin inspired opera ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’).

It’ll be the first single from third album, ‘Shaking The Habitual’ which is set for release on the 8th April. The record is also set to feature Light Asylum’s Shannon Funchess, and will be released through Brille Records.

In the meantime, ‘Full Of Fire’ will be released next week, on the 28th January.
