Viet Cong share ‘Continental Shelf’ video
A debut album’s due next January on Jagjaguwar.
Following last month’s debut album announcement along with lead single ‘Continental Shelf’, Calgary band Viet Cong have now shared the video for the track, an eerie clip directed by Yoonha Park.
Taking inspiration from “horror films, arthouse cinema and the work of painter Michaël Borremans” the clip is a perfect companion to the group’s disjointed post-punk.
Formed from the ashes of Canadian indie rock act Women, Viet Cong consists of former Women members Matt Flegel and Mike Wallace together with Scott Munro and Daniel Christiansen. The band first appeared last year with a tour-only cassette EP, which received a wider release earlier this year via Mexican Summer, and they are now set to release their self-titled debut LP via Jagjaguwar on 19th January next year.
The band made their UK debut earlier this week with two shows in London but will be back for a full European tour in February next year, including four UK gigs announced so far. Watch the video for ‘Continental Shelf’ below.
