Warpaint won’t be releasing a new album any time soon

“We don’t wanna do an album right now or put all our eggs in one basket,” says the band’s Theresa Wayman.

So far this year Warpaint have been focusing on releasing various musical bits and bobs. First came the sprawling 7 minute swamp-jam ‘No Way Out’ - along with a crisper, more honed ‘redux’ version - and ‘I’ll Start Believing’ followed shortly afterwards. However, anybody with their fingers crossed in hope of an album announcement should hold their horses. Speaking to NME, the band’s Theresa Wayman said that Warpaint will not be turning their focus towards album number 3 any time soon.

“We don’t wanna do an album right now or put all our eggs in one basket,” she said. “All this shit of writing, recording, mixing, mastering, releasing, touring… it’s two years dedicated to one thing. We want to do bits here and there, like back in the day when they used to make singles.”

Band member Emily Kokal added: “We have a new rule. When we write a song and agree that we’re stoked about it, we’re done. That’s a lesson we’ve learned - not to over analyse - because then the moment goes.”

There might not be an album of the horizon, but by the sounds of it Warpaint are planning plenty more of those one-off releases. Watch this space, and in the meantime listen to ‘No Way Out (Redux)’ below:
