MGMT’s new self-titled album invites odd interpretations. Imaginations are invited to roam free in a paradise of weirdness. Any director being given the ‘you decide the concept’ agenda for an MGMT music video is guaranteed a field day.
The clip for ‘Alien Days’ takes things to a brilliant extreme. Andrew VanWyngarden stars as one half of an olden days couple ‘travelling in style’ through space. Coming off like a romantic comedy directed by Wes Anderson, it contains some surreal intergalactic imagery and some potentially disturbing scenes of giving birth.
