Sleater Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein recently sat down with Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon in San Francisco to talk about the Gordon’s recently released memoir ‘Girl In A Band’. Footage of the interview - part of the Jewish Community Center’s Arts and Ideas lecture series - has now been shared online to watch, having originally taken place on Tuesday 10th March.
Kim Gordon’s book was released in February, and it documents her experiences with Sonic Youth, motherhood and past marriage to former band-mate and ex-husband Thurston Moore. The hour long interview sees the pair discuss the writing process of ‘Girl In A Band’, Sonic Youth’s final album ‘The Eternal’, Instagram and the idea of “selling out”, amongst other things.
