DIY Weekly, 9th September 2013 - Out Now Feat. MGMT

Grab DIY’s latest tablet & smartphone edition for FREE (if you’re quick).

It’s the beginning of a new week, which means it’s time for a new DIY Weekly - available for free until Wednesday 11th September. Be quick.

For the latest edition, we’ve coverstars MGMT. They could’ve taken almost any route on their third, self-titled album. Given unlimited options, it turns out the duo were most concerned with paying respect to their feline friends.

MGMT made an ‘album for cats’. But there’s more to it than that. They had to follow up ‘Congratulations’ (which was more of a dog album, apparently) where they were accused of being ‘difficult’. Third time round they’re here to set the score.

Elsewhere in the new tablet and smartphone edition of DIY, industrialists Factory Floor give reason to creative accidents and making music in giant warehouses. Their DFA-signed debut has been a long time coming - it’s time to find out how it all came together.

Upping the weirdo stakes is Jackson Scott, finding solace in Weezer and being an oddball with his debut album ‘Melbourne’.

Also in DIY Weekly, You Me At Six give word on their new album, I Was A Cub Scout tell all about their exciting live reunion and Thumpers preview Southsea Fest by suggesting there’s big things around the corner.

In Neu, AKIINE provide an exclusive mix and London duo Rainer spread gospel on the advantages of working as two.

Arctic Monkeys’ ‘AM’ gets the DIY verdict in Reviews, while ArcTanGent festival and Sigur Ros’ appearance at the Roundhouse are both recounted.

All this, in the new DIY Weekly, available now on iTunes Newsstand. It’s downloadable for free until Wednesday 11th September.

Don’t forget: The regular price of DIY Weekly issues has been dropped to £1.49. Weeklies over a month old are available for 69p each.
