MGMT are back with new track ‘Little Dark Age’
It’s the title track of their upcoming new album!
Back in April, MGMT hinted that their new album – which has been on the cards since Christmas Day 2015 – was finished. Then, in May, they gave more of an official confirmation that they were returning, saying in an email newsletter to fans: “Incredibly soon we will get back up on the horse of live music in Memphis. And from atop this great horse we will play old songs and new songs.”
Now, after a little bit of teasing on their Twitter account, they have indeed returned with new music! ‘Little Dark Age’ is the title track of their upcoming album, which is due to be released in early 2018. It’s a synth-heavy cut filled with reverberating, pulsating electronics that really kick in on the hook and propulsive beats.
Speaking to Zane Lowe, the band said: “we felt like we had reached a flow, it was the sort of chemistry, the kind of magic feeling we had when we started the band”.
The single also has an accompanying video, directed by David McNutt and Nathaniel Axel, which places Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser in some seriously sinister and surreal little vignettes.
