News Anna Calvi announces ‘Hunted’, a reworking of ‘Hunter’

Her 2018 Hyundai Mercury Prize shortlisted record is getting a makeover.
Following the August 2018 release of her third record ‘Hunter’, Anna Calvi has now announced that she’s giving the album a bit of a rejig.
“During a break from touring I went back and listened to the first recordings I ever made of ‘Hunter’,” she explains. “These recordings capture the very moment I first wrote these songs, and recorded them on my own, in my attic studio. I find something especially intimate about sharing these most private recordings with my favourite singers and asking them to lend their voices and artistic sensibility.”
Coming up with the idea for ‘Hunted’, the reworking of the original sees Anna revisiting the tracks and pairing up with some of her equally musically talented pals to give it a whole other meaning. With IDLES’ Joe Talbot, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Julia Holter set to appear, Anna’s also shared her first collab - a reworking of ‘Don’t Beat The Girl Out Of My Boy’ - featuring Courtney Barnett.
“Courtney Barnett is an amazing artist,” Anna says. “Her voice and guitar playing together are mind blowing. Her ability to connect the profound to the smallest moments of human experience is the unique talent of a true artist.”
“Anna is a completely awe-inspiring performer, it’s impossible to take your eyes off her onstage,” Courtney says in return. “I love her songwriting for its beautiful and perfect balance between aggression and tenderness”.
Set for release on 6th March, ‘Hunted’ promises to show a rawer side of the original songs. Check out the first newbie and track list below.
