In the magazine February 2020

Featuring Tame Impala, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Big Moon, Mura Masa, Poppy and more.

New year, new us! DIY is officially back in business and we’ve got a brand new issue being released at the end of this week. And what’s more? The modern musical icons that are Tame Impala are on the cover!

Ahead of the release of new album ‘The Slow Rush’, we sat down with Kevin Parker to talk through his reluctant rise to stardom, and the more unusual journey that this newest album took him on.

Elsewhere in this issue - which is packed to the rafters, if we do say so ourselves - we reconvene with our old faves in Bombay Bicycle Club - who happened to be one of very early covers all the way back in 2011, fact fans! - to talk through ‘Everything Else Has Gone Wrong’, their first new album since 2014. We also meet up with The Big Moon to chat their wonderful new record ‘Walking Like We Do’, talk personal politics with Sløtface, visit the enigmatic internet star Poppy in Los Angeles and dive into Mura Masa’s brilliant second album ‘R.Y.C’.

This issue we’re not just celebrating the albums being released this month - we’re also looking ahead to some of the biggest records yet to come in 2020, including those from Dream Wife, Shame and Phoebe Bridgers.

And that’s not all! There’s also chats with La Roux and Supergrass (not together, mind), and in our Neu section, we get acquainted with Irish punk poet Sinead O’Brien, new Dirty Hit signing Oscar Lang and the ever-mysterious Lazarus Kane.
