Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are on the cover of DIY’s September 2021 issue
Our newest print edition - out now! - also features The Killers, Common, The Vaccines, NAO and loads more.
Somehow the laws of time and space have conspired to make it September already. But thankfully we’ve not had too much time to scratch our heads and wonder where the months have gone because we’ve been too busy traversing the fields of the UK and embracing the long-awaited, belated return of festival season.
One band that knows a thing or two about celebratory live stage returns is Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, who became the country’s first post-lockdown festival headliners back in June when they topped the bill at Download Pilot. Now, they’re topping the bill again and fronting our September cover as we follow Frank and Dean from Donnington Park through to the launch of hedonistic, rule-breaking fourth album ‘Sticky’.
Elsewhere in an issue jam-packed with big hitters, we hop on the blower with The Man himself, Brandon Flowers, to find out how his hometown of Nephi inspired The Killers’ most personal album yet. Rap legend Common talks new LP ‘A Beautiful Revolution (pt 2)’ and how he’s feeling more positive about the next generation then ever; The Vaccines take an indie-pop spaceship to the altogether more fictional town of new album ‘Back In Love City, and NAO tells us about her new serene outlook on ‘And Then Life Was Beautiful’.
We’ve also got chats with Aussie’s most rowdy exports Amyl and the Sniffers, the return of Katy B - on a mission once again, Sleigh Bells on going back to their roots and a window into your favourite new artists in this month’s Neu section, featuring ‘Chaise Longue’ hitmakers Wet Leg, Deb Never, Wooze and - wait for it - Still Woozy. Yes, we enjoyed that little coincidence, too.
Plus! There’s the official DIY verdict on the new albums from Lorde, Billie Eilish, Little Simz, and loads more. PHEW!
Desperate to dive in? Well luckily for you our new issue is available to read online RIGHT NOW. Love the sweet sweet smell of print? Order your very own physical copy of the mag and it’ll come whizzing through your letterbox within the next seven days.
